Goals

October 17, 2017June 15, 2018 Grace Pitman

I want to use my life for purposes. There are many things in life I would love to do, some of them realistic, and some of them not. Right now I’m working on a goal that quite frankly I have no clue if it’s realistic or not. I am a pianist. I was quite good,… Continue reading Goals

About The Author

Hi! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. My name is Grace. I am married to David, and we are the happy parents of a beautiful little girl. We live in Memphis, Tennessee. David is a Graphic Designer and Photographer who roasts coffee for a living, and I teach music to help out with that living. I am an artist, prone to cynicism, anxiety, and negativity. I have learned to combat those things by surrounding myself with beauty, goodness, and truth. From lyric cards on my kitchen cupboards, bible verses on my fridge, good music playing through my speakers, curtains open to let the sun in, to writing this blog, I’ve chosen to live life on the bright side, choosing joy, choosing truth, choosing goodness, meditating on beauty. Writing is one of my favorite outlets of creativity, especially because I am also rather opinionated, for better or for worse. I am a Christ follower, a lover of all things liberal arts, a musician, a mommy, a wife, no longer defined by sin but freed by grace through faith to live life to the fullest, thankful for each new day.

“There is light and beauty out there that no shadow can touch.”

“I can’t do this, Sam.”

“I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here! But we are. It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered; full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass; a new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand; I know now: Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t, because they were holding on to something”

“What are they holding on to Sam?”

“That there is some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.”

J.R.R. Tolkien
